Generation Z - or GenZ - the generation of people born in the late 1990s and early 2000s, are relying on social media platforms TikTok and Instagram for making travel plans, discovering cities and showing them the global ‘must visit’ hotspots.
Traditional search engines such as Google and Trip Advisor are becoming obsolete for this tech savvy generation with as much as 40% of the 16 to 26 year olds relying solely on TikTok.
Research conducted by Chopstix Noodle Bar shows the hottest food and drink spots along with the top 10 must visit destinations when visiting New York - according to TikTok.
Topping the list of landmarks to visit* (and share a selfie on TikTok obviously) is still the most famous building in New York - The Empire State Building, followed by the Yankee Stadium and Ground Zero.
The top ten food and drink spots include Ellen's Stardust Diner, home of the Original World-Famous Singing Waitstaff, The Stardusters and Bryant Park Grill which is nestled in the beautiful Bryant Park. The high end eatery is famed for its Duck Cassoulet with slow-cooked white bean ragout, roasted root vegetables, and homemade duck & mushroom sausage, and crispy duck confit leg.
Third up is the Magic Hour Rooftop Bar & Lounge which Conde Nast Traveller described as ‘Like a playground with drinks’.
